Psalms

14, 44, 74, 104, 134

14:1 Only fools say in their hears, ‘There is no God”. National Day for Atheists…….April 1.

5 God is with those who obey Him; vs 6 the LORD will protect His people.

44:1 …all You did in other days:

vs 2 You drove out; You crushed;

vs 3 They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strength that gave them

victory. It was by your mighty power that they succeeded;

vs 4 You are my KING! You command victories for you people.

Vs 5 Only by Your power can we push back our enemies; only in Your Name can we trample our foes.

Vs 6 I do not trust my bow; I don’t count on my sword vs 7 It is YOU; It is YOU

Vs 9-22 Dark days. What is our attitude when the darkness covers us? Do we doubt in the dark what we

knew in the light?

Ex: 3 Hebrew Chillins: the God we serve is well able to deliver us, BUT IF NOT,we won’t bow.

Hinds Feet in High Places: Little Much Afraid on her way and almost to the top of the mountain,

When the path led directly away and down into the valley…..she was tempted to believe He betrayed her.

74:1 Why? Is it ok to ask ‘why’?

vs 2 Jerusalem, You home here on earth. (Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in

heaven)

vs 5 Starts the recount of the acts of the enemy:

they chopped down the entrance; vs 7 they set the sanctuary on fire; they utterly defiled the place

that bears Your Name; vs 8 then they thought, “let’s destroy everything!”

vs 9-11 Starts more dark, dark days: no miraculous signs, all the prophets are gone;

Our reaction: vs 11 Unleash your powerful fist and deliver a deathblow.

Vs 12 You, O God, are my KING from ages past! (O God our help in Ages Past)

Vs 13-17 Recounting all the mighty things God has done:

Vs 20 remember Your promises……for the land is full of darkness and violence!!

Vs 23 their uproar of rebellion grows ever louder.

104:1 Praise the LORD, I tell myself; O LORD my God, how great you are!!!

Vs 1-23 remember and recount what all God has done through the ages. (Ps 18)

Vs 30 When You send Your Spirit, new life is born to replenish all the living of the earth.

Vs 33 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath!!

134:1-3 He picks out and gives special notice to one dept/grp of people.

Vs 3 May the LORD, who made heaven and earth, bless you from Jerusalem.

I just read the book Heaven is  for Real, and I thought that sharing scriptures and/or quotes from the book as reference points would be nice, just to share the wonder that is waiting for us in eternity!
     "There is a story in the Bible about King David of Israel.  David had committed adultery with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah one of David's trusted soldiers.  Then in an effort to cover up his sin, David sent Uriah to the front lines, where David knew he would be killed.  Later the prophet Nathan came to David and said basically, 'Look , God knows what you did, and here are the consequences of your sin: the child that you and Bathsheba have conceived will not live.'
    David tore his clothes and cried and prayed and pleaded with God.  He was so grief stricken that when the baby died, his servants were afraid to come and tell him.  But David figured it out, and when he did, he got up, washed himself ate, and calmly took care of the funeral.  His behavior confused his servants, who said, 'Hey wait a minute:  weren't you just freaking out a few minutes ago? Weren't you just pleading and crying before God?  Now you're so calm....what's the deal?'
    David explained, 'I was hoping God would change his mind, but He didn't'
    In his mind David had been doing what he could while there was something he could do."
